Atlantic City is no longer the gambling capital of the East Coast and one of New Jersey’s best food cities. As a national site, it is also home to the No. 1 boardwalk in the United States.
Fodor Travel recently released a list of the top cruise lines in the United States. There was no other Atlantic City to check in at No. 1. Here’s what Fodor had to say about AC’s boardwalk:
Atlantic City’s boardwalk is world-renowned. In the year Started in 1870, it is said to be the world’s first and longest boardwalk. The original purpose of the structure was to protect the nearby hotels from unruly ocean waves, but over time, when the boardwalk grew to its current length of 5.5 miles, it became International entertainment center. Explore high-end hotels and casinos like the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City, or take a swing at Atlantic City miniature golf. Stroll the nearby piers which offer visitors many additional attractions and shopping areas. Check out Central Pier Arcade and Speedway for a wide selection of arcade games. Take a ride on the “Steel Pier” or take an observation wheel that overlooks the city. Nearby, the “Garden” is a boardwalk arts and culture center that houses the Atlantic City Historical Museum and the Atlantic City Art Center.
