Strikes have been affecting airports across Europe in recent days and weeks, and labor action is expected to continue over the next few months.

A few weeks ago, flights to and from airports across Germany were canceled due to a strike by union workers. That strike affected seven airports, including three of the country’s largest airports – Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg. Additional airports hit by recent labor action include Stuttgart, Bremen, Hanover and Dortmund. At least 300,000 passengers were affected and airlines canceled thousands of flights.
Here’s a closer look at some of the upcoming strike locations and dates, according to EuroNews Travel.
Spain
Between February 27th and April 13th there will be a series of 24-hour fellowship walks every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The walks include Swissport ground services and cargo handling staff. The company offers services to a list of the busiest airports in Spain, including Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Rus, Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Malaga, Almeria, Salamanca, Valladolid, Burgos, Logroño, Zaragoza, Huesca, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria. and Tenerife Sur airports.
During the strike, union workers are required by Spanish law to provide minimal services. As a result, it is unclear how much impact the strikes will have.
France
In France, unionized workers across the country have been locked in a protracted battle over retirement age laws. Due to this problem, the strike includes railway and airport workers. In a recent strike, 30 percent of flights from Paris Orly airport had to be cancelled.
More strikes are planned for March 7, Euronews reports. The day is expected to bring France to a complete standstill, with labor strikes expected to be the largest to date. There is talk of strikes after March.
united kingdom
At London’s Heathrow airport, thousands of security workers, engineers and firefighters are voting on whether to strike. These strikes are linked to low pay, Euronews reports. If the union votes to go on strike, it could take place over the Easter holiday.
Wayne King, the unit’s regional co-ordinating officer, said: “If our members at HAL[Heathrow Airport]were to go on strike it would inevitably cause significant disruption at Heathrow through delays, delays and cancellations of flights.
