Teletubbies on the London Fashion Week runway

Bobby Abley, the mainstay of London Fashion Week, was used Teletubbies (1997) With a life-size Dipsy delighting the audience with fun moves as inspiration for the SS18 collection in 2017, models walked in a variety of swirling hairstyles paying homage to characters from the classic TV show. With the help of colorful elastic bands, models like Keith Butler and Jonah Burjack wore unique spiky hairstyles. In other cases, models wore wigs designed to resemble the Teletubbies’ iconic headpieces.

Alexander McQueen’s Joan of Arc finale

Alexander McQueen’s 1998 fall collection had a dark feel to it, inspired by Joan of Arc and the assassination of the Romanov family. Several models appeared in chainmail dresses based on the Joan of Arc motif, with the color scheme emphasizing blood red, black and silver. Also in medieval-inspired looks with no eyebrows and bleached blonde hair, the models wore blood-red contact lenses.

The final model was surrounded by a ring of flames and was wearing a red dress covered with tin to hide her face. As the fire spreads, she becomes agitated and spins around to resemble Joan of Arc.
