The man is said to have driven into the bakery and into another business.

Ammon – A 23-year-old man who allegedly vandalized a local bakery suffered another similar incident on the same day.

According to court documents filed by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Geraldine Beck’s Shop & Deli in Ammon around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday. Employees said someone had broken into the window and tried to get out of the car and enter the store.

When deputies arrived with an Idaho State Police trooper, Watson was in the driver’s seat. He began talking to law enforcement.

“Carl told him the window was moving. He said he tried to tell the crew at Geraldine to leave or die. “He said people were disappearing everywhere,” court documents said.

Watson said he had a warrant and sent it to deputies. Then he went to jail.

The K9 officer circled the car. Deputies found a vape pen with a brown substance inside. The brown substance was tested and supposedly good for cannabis. In addition, there were items in the car.

He was charged with three misdemeanors, including malicious damage to property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.

He was given a $25,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Once bond is posted, it will be sent to Pretrial Services.

The battery plus event

In another incident that same day, Idaho Falls police responded to a hit-and-run at Battery Place off Channing Way around 6 a.m.

There are three large stained glass windows on the north side of the building. The windows were broken. There were tire tracks in the snow leading to the windows, as well as tire marks on the sidewalk in front of the windows. No one was in the store at the time of the incident, court documents state.

The central part of the windows is lying on the ground on the sidewalk. The other two sets of windows were still standing but had been pushed into the store.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene to assist after being involved in an earlier incident with Watson.

This time, deputies transported Watson to a local hospital for custody after the bakery incident. Idaho Falls police went to the hospital to talk to Watson and asked him what happened in the city and if he was involved in the Battery Place accident.

Watson was confused, documents said.

“Carl told me he hadn’t run into a building since he was a kid,” an officer said in court documents.

The official said there was an accident at Battery Place. Watson, “Did I go to Batteries Plus?” he asked.

He told the officer what he remembered. He said he and a woman were talking and the next thing he knew he was at Dixie Diner. Although he told the officer there were other people with him, he said he was alone.

At the Dixie Diner, he notices the back door is open and says he’s chasing his daughter.

He recalled, “It rolled forward, hit the fender, went a little bit into the fender … nailed the brakes and came back.”

He thought it was all a dream and remembered very little of what happened.

Officers checked repeatedly to make sure his daughter was safe and asked for a security clearance because Watson mentioned her. She was not with him at the time of the accident and was fine.

Watson said he drove a Dodge Avenger. The owner of the Battery Plus had surveillance footage of the vehicle crashing through the windows. Damage is estimated at around $10,000.

He was charged with criminal damage to property, court records show. Bail was set at $15,000. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Bonneville County Court on April 11 at 1 p.m.
