The Jags defeated St. Francis in comeback fashion, 3-2

Indianapolis – The IUPUI volleyball team fell behind 2-0 but won its last three games to beat St. Francis 3-2 in the first game of the 2022 Hampton Inn Invitational.

Red Flash took the first two sets 25-23 and 25-22. The Jags had 10 kills and four blocks in the first set, but gave up free points on four errors behind the service line. St. Francis served four aces in the opening set. IUPUI improved their serve with seven aces but still fell 25-22, giving the Red Flash a 2-0 lead.

Down 2-0, the Jags collected 16 kills and two blocks, cutting their service errors to three en route to a 25-18 third-set win. IUPUI scored 18 kills on St. Francis in the fourth set with six kills. The Jags recorded six aces to beat the Red Flashes 25-19 and tie the match at 2-2.

The fifth and deciding set went down to the service line. The Jags had three service aces with the match point being won through an ace Brooke Phillips.
