Palm Beach shoppers can thank Nell Diamond’s mother for the island’s newest retail destination for fashion and beauty.

When the New York City-based entrepreneur was thinking of expansion areas for Hill House Home, a 7-year-old fashion and lifestyle enthusiast, her mother, Jennifer Diamond, had an idea.

“My mom used to tell me that Palm Beach was at the top of her list to open a store, because she wanted to shop there,” Diamond said. “This is really a gift for my mother.”

Hill House Home, which also has locations in Nantucket and New York City, launched on January 26.

One of three women-owned businesses in The Current, a new retail concept at Royal Poinciana Plaza Hill House offers bed, bath, accessories and apparel.

In 2016, Diamond launched the brand as a direct-to-consumer bedding and home business, expanding into fashion, accessories and footwear.

Featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and other fashion publications, the brand is known for its nap dresses, flowy dresses that can be worn at home, in the office or on the town.

“A nap dress is an all-day outfit,” says mother-of-three Diamond, who worked as a fixed-income analyst at Deutsche Bank in New York before founding Hill House. “You can wear it to bed, you can wear it to dinner, and you can wear it to work. It’s such a versatile, dressy, dressy outfit. That’s what we’re known for.”

Knepp clothing is featured in Hill House Home’s new, 1,010-square-foot space at 150 Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach, but there are many other featured rooms in the store, including the brand’s latest clothing collection and some of its past bestsellers. Collections, there is a diamond.

Ready-to-wear shoes, accessories and children’s items are available in-store, and the space features items such as the Elizabeth Knapp Dress in Strawberry Daiquiri Sherwood Forest, the Enzo Dress in Daiquiri Breeze Raschel and the Lou Lou Duster in Daiquiri Breeze Raschel Sweater.

“We want to have something unique in each location,” Diamond said. “Palm Beach is probably our biggest exclusive group. We’re really excited. Our clothing is designed for warm weather. We’ve got two designs just for Palm Beach. You can’t find them anywhere else.”

Diamond, whose aunt and uncle live in Palm Beach, has been eyeing the island as a place to expand.

Her mother’s support sealed the deal.

“It’s always been my dream to open in Palm Beach,” Diamond said. “I was visiting my aunt and uncle who live here. They introduced me to the area over the years. We’ve been working hard for years to make this happen, and we finally found the right place.”

Hill House Home, launched in 2018 as a retail hatchery concept by Royal Poinciana Plaza operator WS Development, joins two other women-owned businesses, La Vie Style House and Little, on The Current.

According to Carina Donoso, senior director of retail experience and incubation for WS Development, the idea was to create more flexible and experimental opportunities for retailers and brands.

“Our mission was to shine a light on amazing woman-owned businesses and give them a platform in a growing and vibrant neighborhood,” she says.

Diamond, who graduated with a master’s in business administration from the Yale School of Management and developed Hill House Home through the school’s entrepreneurship program, said she is grateful for that platform.

“I was a big fan of the development they were doing there,” she told The Current. “It’s very thoughtful and creative. We’re excited to be with so many other thoughtful brands. It just felt like the perfect place, so when the opportunity came up, we jumped on it.”

Diamond plans to continue expanding Hill House Home with stores planned for Charleston, South Carolina and London.

For now, though, she’s focused on her busy New York City and Nantucket stores and her new location in Palm Beach.

Hill House Home is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. For more information, visit www.hillhousehome.com.
