Wilmington, NC — The No. 11 Virginia Tech softball team closed out its opening weekend in run regulation with a 9-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne in five innings. Tech will travel to Florida next weekend to compete in the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational, where they will play five games starting the weekend. The Hokies will face Oklahoma State, Nebraska, UCLA, Arizona and USF from a season ago. The Cowgirls, Bruins and Wildcats all advanced to the World Series.
