The Art of Patriots Fashion, the charity’s fall and philanthropic tribute, will take to the runway on September 15 at the Inn in Rancho Santa Fe. Of course it will be for sale, the show will feature selections from the Autumn-Winter collections. South Coast Plaza’s leading luxury retailers Oscar de la Renta, Isabel Marant, Monique Lhuillier, Bali, Lafayette 148 New York, Max Mara, Moncler, Ralph Lauren and Saks Fifth Avenue, in an informal event at Camilla’s champagne banquet.
The award-winning ABC 10 News anchor Kimberly Hunt covers the art of fashion, hosted by Kaylen Hayward, Sandy Nolan and Melissa Wilkins. The event honors Friends of the Country volunteers for their long commitment to the 68-year-old nonprofit organization that raises funds to benefit San Diego County charities through events and the Consignment Shop in Rancho Santa Fe.
“You know it’s down when a giant aerial tent takes shape in a park across the street,” said Suzanne Newman, president of Country Friends. “It’s amazing that this annual event has been going on for over 65 years.” For the past 18 years, Friends of the Country has partnered with South Coast Plaza to raise critical funds for many non-profits. TCF’s Board of Directors selects charities each fall after a careful review and site visit. In the year Since its inception in 1954, Country Friends has donated more than $14 million to those in need, with a special focus on women, children, the elderly, military and the disabled.
Funds are raised through sponsors, customers, a live auction, a raffle featuring designer handbags, apparel and jewelry, and 10 percent of sales at South Coast Plaza mini boutiques offering fashion, fragrance and accessories. Boutiques participating this year include Buccellati, Camilla, Furla, Jo Malone London, Max Mara, Mulberry, Oscar de la Renta and Vitra Eyewear.
Top prize in the live auction was the “Ultimate Antarctic Adventure” from Scott Dunn Luxury Travel, worth $38,390, a two-day, 12-day cruise on Aurora’s new, state-of-the-art cruise ship. Additional prizes include a $12,500 pair of amethyst and diamond drop earrings from The John Matti Company, a $12,500 trip to the luxurious Conrad Punta Demita on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit with two round-trip tickets from Alaska Airlines, and a $6,500 facial rejuvenation package from Alurant Spa.
Linda Sansone and Associates will sponsor the event’s opening champagne reception, light bites from French Gourmet, lucky draw displays and the ever-popular photo lounge. After boarding, guests gather on the Inn’s Croquet Lawn for a three-course lunch of butter lettuce, heirloom cherry tomatoes and pumpkin seeds, pan-seared local halibut with satay cabbage, sweet white corn puree, broccolini and roasted pepper coulis. The sweet key is the lemon tartlet. A vegetarian option is also available. Art of Fashion concludes with “Sip, Shop and Support,” the opportunity to continue boutique shopping.
“Couture” sponsors include Les and Deborah Cross, Hohen Jaguar Land Rover, Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa and The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, Warren Family Foundation and Wells Fargo. “Fashionista” sponsors are Dr. Melanie Palm of Art of Skin MD, Miranda Foundation for Hope, Nani Pua Skin Care and Torrey Pines Bank. “Designer” Sponsors Keilene Hayward and Stephanie Wilbur, Performance K9 Training & Boarding and SKY Facial Plastic Surgery Inc before Fashion Art Support Party.
