Moment has teamed up with photographer and filmmaker Emmett Sparling to release the DayChaser, which it describes as the most versatile travel and camera bag on the market.

According to the company, the 35-liter bag was more than 18 months in the making and Sparling’s input was a combination of a professional travel photographer and Moment’s interior bag design team. Given that Strohl is one of the last backpackers PetaPixel’s Best choices for backpacks, Momenta has proven its ability to design reliable backpacks.

The DayChaser is described as having “military-grade” performance, with weight distribution, support and waterproofing meeting the needs of a protective yet accessible camera bag. It also addresses travel package needs such as strong organization, rugged design and safety.

Moment seems to understand that there are hundreds of bag options out there that count as DayChaser competition, and what makes it unique is a combination of a few things.

First, DayChaser promises “amazing” weight distribution. The company says that travel bags should be comfortable, but when combined with the needs of a camera bag, they can be quite heavy. Moment has created a custom strap that delivers better performance than anything else on the market.

The strap has four adjustment points, a channeled back panel and spacer mesh for “optimal” airflow, which also helps avoid scratching. It also uses what Moment describes as a full-frame military-grade harness, a full-size hip belt to distribute weight, and custom foam.

Second, Moment says the bag’s interior allows for “unlimited” packing configurations. The company says travel is unpredictable and therefore DayChaser needs to be able to adapt to any configuration. The team believes the bag meets these needs.

Finally, the bag is ready to carry a camera. The bag is made of “Extremely Tough” DWR with 500D KODRA fabric with a double-layer waterproof backing. As a result, the bag is durable, but Momentum says it’s still light, and some unlined fabrics and lightweight padding help keep the total empty weight to five pounds, two ounces.

Like a camera bag, the DayChaser has side access that allows photographers to access their camera without removing the bag entirely. The bag’s laptop sleeve is fully secured with a metal strapping system and padding, and a snap-secured flap prevents the owner from inadvertently opening the pack.

The DayChaser says it will retail for less than $100 at the moment, starting at a low price of $200 on Kickstarter. The company is looking for a January 2023 release.
