The hot and dusty day massacre left one winner and many losers on Cobbler for the 2022 Tour de France in the GC war. But as we mentioned in our Rubyx level technology preview, mechanics often have rough edges on the tree before they visit Fable Paven.
As predicted, however, many mechanics a a little bit Easier day than previous Department du Nord visits. With tire changes and the strange double-bar bar tape, for most drivers, it was a matter of ‘being’ on the tech front. However, in the beginning village we saw some interesting technology choices. Here are some highlights.
Tire selection and tire pressure are important when racing on the floor. The team was lowering the pressure of the B&B Hotels mechanic to 3.3 bar (~ 48 PSI).

Movista saved the GPU-free GP 5000 for spare parts on the roof.
Each specialized team rolled on these 32mm SS-wheels. These tires are from Peter Sagan’s bike, and are rated at 5 bar / 72 PSI.
The new tire has a thin central tread and this looks like an eclipse on the sides.
700 × 32mm – This is a good width to roll on the floor.
Most riders and teams have opted for 30mm tires, however, under Paddock because of its special popularity under the control of the Victorian course.
This front wheel is from Matthias van der Poel Canyon Arod, but Jumbo-Visma and other teams are rolling on the same wheel – the exciting selection team is based solely on the tubulars for Paris-Rubyx.
Still, some drivers and teams are stuck in the tested and tested pipeline. Mades Pederson was one of two drivers in the Trac-Segaregredo riding with Pirely tubes. Meanwhile, all the Lotto-Soda team bikes are loaded with flat tires.
Other drivers on the Trek-Segafredo have opted for the 30mm Pireli P-Zero racing TLR tires.

Van Barley won the Rubyx double-double bar tape and chose not to change the winning formula. Unfortunately for Van Barley, the forum was not successful today.

Many of the team BikeExchange-Jayco drivers have switched from the new Giant Propel to the TCR Advanced SL. Regardless of the frame, all BEX drivers have chosen 30mm tires, and while cleaning is a little too close to Propel, cleaning can never be a problem on a dry day.
Primož Roglič competed with Cervello Caledonia 5 in the Dura-Ace C 50 wheels and once again in the Vitoria 30mm course-control tireless tires.
Sepp Cous, meanwhile, acquired Cervello’s low-profile Servelo Caledonia (No. 5) model. Still, today it is arguably the most beautiful bike in Paddock.
Interestingly, we saw stage winner Simon Clark choose to compete with only one bottle holder. Clark explained that he had only run on one bottle for a few years after he had to switch to disc brakes.
