Despite the news of the turmoil and layoffs in the market, the new technology market is relatively strong in the Dallas Metro area, according to a new report.
Across the country, technology companies added 20,300 new employees in June, the 19th.Th CompTIA’s latest tech report for nonprofits indicates continuous growth. And among the metro, Dallas is in the top three for new job postings, although the number of new jobs added over the month has decreased.
In a statement, Tim Herbert, chief research officer at Comptia, said: “More than expected, every business in all sectors and in the economy will reaffirm the important role of technology.” “It also highlights the limitations of planning company-based hiring practices to a broader technology workforce.”
Dallas had nearly 28,000 tech jobs in June
According to the report, Metro Dallas has nearly 28,000 technology jobs, behind only Washington DC and New York City areas.
Although the number of vacancies is higher than other metro, the number of jobs posted in June has dropped by more than 5,400 compared to May – the second largest monthly drop in any metro area after Los Angeles, the report said.
Trends in the Dallas area reflect state level data. The report posted about 58,500 jobs in Texas in June, second only to California’s more than 66,000. The fall between May and June was the only California to beat Texas, with Texas falling more than 11,700.
Nationally, the number of job advertisements for new technology hires reached 505,663 last month, an increase of 62 percent from June 2021, CompTIA said. Last month, the professional, scientific and technical services industry had the highest number of job advertisements, according to the report.
