– Seattle-based drug screening startup Currie Bio has named a new CEO, Nicolas Geisen, replacing Michael Cho. Geise has served the company as Chief Science Officer for more than five years and previously held management roles in scientific, commercial, product development and reliability research at Oxford Instruments.
Cho will continue with the biotech company in a corporate and legal strategy capacity. Curi Bio has raised $10 million in December 2021 to advance its cell-based screening platform.
– Joe Heitzberg is stepping down as CEO of Seattle-based meat and seafood marketplace CrowdCow in 2015. Elizabeth LiuHe plays the role of the company’s vice president of marketing.
Liu has been with the startup since its inception and previously spent 15 years in e-commerce roles, including director of marketing at Wayfair, product manager at Amazon Payments and business development and strategic partner roles at Zulily.
The company also introduced Criminal Sabbath For the role of chief operating officer, vice president of finance.
Heitzberg will remain with the company as chairman of the board.
“It’s been an amazing journey from testing the elevator pitch with random people at Starbucks, to becoming an industry leader in connecting consumers to high-quality, sustainable meat and seafood,” Hitzberg said in a LinkedIn post announcing the changes.
– Ulf Ewaldson will become president of technology at T-Mobile, replacing Neville Ray, who plans to retire.
Ewaldson has worked at T-Mobile for four years and currently serves as the company’s executive vice president and chief network officer. He previously held leadership roles at Ericsson for twelve years, most recently as CEO Advisor.
Ray has served T-Mobile for 23 years, leading the company from 2G to 5G technology and plans to step down later this year.
– Cumulo, a Seattle-based startup that helps companies manage large data sets, has added two new leaders.
- Ryan FarrisVice President of Product, he was previously the Chief Technology Officer at Anitian, and worked with AWS MediaStore and CloudFront as the Product and Engineering Leader at Amazon.
- Brandon WhitelawThe vice president of strategic partnerships was previously at Amazon where he led sales and marketing strategy for AWS storage services, as well as sales and marketing roles at Dell EMC.
– Pittsburgh medical documentation company Abridge has named Amazon AI researcher Zachary Lipton as chief science officer. Lipton served as a visiting scientist in the Amazon for six years and served as a scientific advisor to Abridge for four years. He is an Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University.
– IT services and consulting company Salom introduced Sharon Lynch To lead its North American Slalom construction business, which connects clients with software engineering services. Lynch previously served as managing director at Slalom and was previously director of professional services at Tribold and manager of Accenture.
– Two University of Washington researchers have been named Sloan Fellows. An award that recognizes early career researchers as the next generation of leaders.
- Battle of LeilaniAssistant Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering. Battle, who co-directs the UW’s Interactive Data Labs, investigates interactive visual exploration of massive data sets.
- Jonathan Z, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on curved surfaces and their theory and geometry.
