The pandemic is far from over for Philadelphia’s small businesses.
Davey Ramkisson, who leads the Greater Philadelphia Sustainable Business Network (SBN), wants to help change that.
Ramkissoon has been working in international development for over 15 years. An immigrant and entrepreneur, Ramkisson understands the challenges faced by women and business owners of color.
According to Ramkisson, businesses like this have historically struggled “from inception to survival” in their company’s growth stages.
The pandemic has exacerbated those challenges. “That’s why we’re seeing a lot of these businesses close at high prices,” Ramkisson said.
“Philadelphia remains the poorest big city in the country. Our region is plagued by issues like food insecurity, environmental degradation and other related issues, all of which disproportionately affect communities of color,” said Ramkisson.
