This week, we asked Iman Hammam – supermodel, first ambassador and muse for Tory Burch’s dreamy new fragrance collection.–To share all the beauty products you love right now.
Iman Hammam has always lived in a perfumed household. Her mother, who grew up in Amsterdam, started the morning by burning incense. When she visits her grandmother’s house in Morocco, incense fills the air before Friday prayers—so “the whole house goes up in smoke,” the supermodel told Coveter. As Hammam grew into a ubiquitous industrial institution on runways, covers and campaigns, lighting incense and palo santo in her Brooklyn apartment every day helped her feel at home outside of Amsterdam. “Living here in New York by myself, having those smells in my house brings me back to my family,” she says. “It’s amazing how fragrances can bring back memories or make you think about times in your life.”
Filling her home with familiar scents takes her back to her childhood, but she considers how her career moves at a breakneck pace — she’s only covered this year. Harper’s Bazaar, Mexico Vogueof Wall Street Journal, and now he’s the ambassador of Tory Burch’s new five-piece fragrance collection — not much time to reflect. However, since the outbreak, she has made it a priority to promote herself. “My lifestyle is so fast paced that I’m always moving on to the next thing. But the best thing I’ve learned during Covid is to be in the moment,” she says. “If I think back to when Iman was 11 years old and she was looking at magazines and watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on TV (because that’s my favorite thing to watch), 11-year-old Iman never intended to be like that. I always had these big dreams of being a model or doing fashion, but I didn’t have the confidence and I never thought that I would be.
