The shop, in partnership with local restaurant chain Proto Corporation, recently extended its run for several months amid overwhelming demand in Tokyo’s fashionable Shibuya district. Since its fourth season aired in May, “Stranger Things” has remained one of the streamer’s top 10 shows in Japan.
The interior features replicas of the stores and the show, which was filmed by Hawkins Indiana in the US, along with a world under dark glass that the Preteen characters call the “Upside Down”.
Like the Hawkins kids, they can ride bikes.

Fans can take photos next to the drama’s signature Demogorgon monster, while songs like Kate Bush’s “Running That Hill” play in the background.
Diners can indulge in dishes inspired by the show, such as squid-colored pasta topped with monster heads or waffles that crave the psychedelic star character Eleven.
To reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19, which is now sweeping Japan in record numbers, the cafe requires visitors to make a reservation and only about 20 people are allowed in each hour.
“Every day at midnight I was trying to book a table on my phone,” said Kimiko Nakaye, a 29-year-old mother. “Finally there’s an opening today because someone canceled their reservation.”

But like many tourist-oriented businesses, the sector was hit hard by the pandemic.
