Second Glasgow Tech Fest provides a networking platform for the city’s growing technology sector

The second Glasgow Tech Fest saw over 300 delegates gather to exchange ideas to boost the city’s growing tech sector.

Members of the tech community attended an event in Glasgow City’s Innovation District on April 19, held at the Technology and Innovation Center at the University of Strathclyde.

The event focused on five key themes: impactful innovation, market dynamics, ecosystem development, business strategies and growth leadership.

The packed agenda saw speakers including: TV presenter and journalist Spencer Kelly; Baile Adeoti, founder of Decomai and president of Scottish Women in Business; Alison Porter, portfolio manager at Janus Henderson Global Investors; Dominic McGregor, Co-Founder of Social Chain and Co-Founder of Fearless Adventures; and Professor Janice Kirkpatrick OBE, Creative Director of Graven will share insights into successful innovation and collaboration.

Among the key takeaways from Glasgow Tech Fest:

• AI and AI services that support automation are now critical digital services for any business.
• Global Investors Recognize the Value of Investing in Businesses Developing Products Using AI, Crypto, Digital Cloud and Meta Quote
• Investors have shifted their focus to Glasgow’s latest tech startups and startups to promote deep tech innovation to match the emerging innovation pipeline.
• Having a strong vision and shared mission gives early stage businesses a clear path to grow their business
• The ecosystem supports a wide range of businesses such as investment and IP.
• The Business Strategies panel session highlights the importance of developing team members’ sales experience within the business as soon as you start your business.
• There is a clear opportunity to bring together founders with years of deep industry knowledge who have previous startup experience (got investment and grown their business) together. Combining both talents will provide a strong development team to accelerate business growth.

Following the success of the 2023 event, next year’s Glasgow Tech Fest date has been set for 16 May, coinciding with Glasgow Tech Week, which runs from 13-17 May.

Glasgow City Innovation District will be a founding partner and lead organizer of the week, which will be a celebration of the founders, leaders and businesses that are driving the growth of technology in the city. The format will be a week-long festival that showcases the knowledge and growth of Glasgow’s tech sector and provides an opportunity to bring together the city’s tech ecosystem to grow the city’s innovation economy.
