With household names like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle’s tech scene is one of the city’s most recognizable features today. But did you know that Seattle is a hub for independent film? Next weekend, those two worlds will collide at TechDocFest 2017, the world’s only film festival for documentaries — and — technology that’s changing the world.
The festival aims to explore the culture and history of technology and how it has shaped society and individuals over the past decade. He also hopes to create a discussion about the positive and negative effects of technology.
Things kick off on the evening of Friday, January 27 and the festival runs through Sunday, January 29 with short and feature-length documentaries. There is also a VR lounge where festival goers can watch three short documentaries in virtual reality.
TechDocFest takes place in South Seattle at Factory Lux, also known as the Old Rainier Brewery. For more information – including the full lineup of documentaries – and to purchase tickets, check out the festival’s website.
Startup Stories from Seattle 10
