Due to the new direction with a more focused product portfolio and road map in the future, the decision was made to stop body production for Scania bus chassis at the plant in Słupsk. Poland. Scania continues to offer its customers a complete range of buses and coaches, an offering based on our strengths – modular systems, extensive service network, and strong international and local partnerships with OEMs.

The bus and coach market has been greatly affected by the epidemic and although the market is gradually increasing, the recovery rate is slow, competition is increasing and the upcoming legislation requires significant investment in new technologies, now and in the future.

A focused product roadmap and a leaner, more flexible structure

You will get a leaner structure to improve the speed and flexibility of the bus and coach business in order to fulfill Scania’s customer promises and ensure its ability to better meet market requirements and customer needs. A focussed approach to the future of Scania’s product portfolio and development means the company will continue to produce a wide range of powertrain options for rear and front engine chassis, but will cease production of the Scania Urban, Scania Interlink and low-floor chassis.

As a result, Scania decided to close its plant in Słupsk. PolandIt is manufacturing chassis components for Scania. Body production will gradually end in the first quarter of 2024. This decision does not affect chassis production in Słupsk or in other Scania entities Poland.

With the updated strategy, Scania continues to offer a complete range of buses and coaches in collaboration with selected body builders and partners in the industry.
