A real estate broker with offices in Seville, Del Mar, is expanding its operations in San Diego to strengthen the company’s overall life science practice.
The move in San Diego will include Shannon Halldeman, a laboratory planner.
“As our clients seek a more unique approach to solving their complex real estate needs, it is important to find highly skilled professionals with extensive experience in science,” said Austin Barrett, CEO and North American Life Sciences. Experiences are guided by Savills.
Barrett said that by adding people with a background in science rather than real estate backgrounds, Savels could offer better information to life sciences and technology companies.
“Typically, most brokerage transactions are between two brokers and a customer in the same room,” Barrett said. “What we’re trying to do is bring more scientific sets of skills to the table, thinking of more scientific modeling verses.”
Halman was a laboratory manager and security expert at a pharmaceutical company in La Jolla.
Heldman holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Indiana in Public Health Research and Policy and Public Health.
Many more like-minded people in science will be added to San Diego next year, Barrett said.
The move to strengthen its presence in the life sciences market follows the acquisition of Savills by T3 Advisors, a real estate consulting firm founded in Boston, 2001, in 2001.
The company was renamed T3 Advisors, A Savills Company.

The San Diego Life Science Market, which has been on fire for the past two years, has been hit by stock market volatility, economic uncertainty and inflation.
Still, Barrett says life science will continue to be a “shining star” in the San Diego real estate market.
“There are many unfulfilled needs and we see that every day. “In San Diego, you have a lot of immigration from the Bay Area. That’s great for that market to continue to grow.
