Turkish Airlines, the national airline of Turkey, released a promotional video this week in partnership with the European Champions League. The video is a fun and engaging look that shows viewers following Brazilian freestyler Adonias Fonseca around the world.
Cooperation of Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines has become the first airline to sponsor the UEFA Champions League Final, which will be held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Turkey on June 10. To mark the occasion, Turkish Airlines and UEFA released a video titled “Catch the Ball”.
Commenting on the video, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, Professor Dr. Ahmet Bolat:
“The sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League is one of the biggest collaborations in Turkish sports history, and we are happy to present this film to the beloved football fans around the world. As a global airline that connects more countries than any other, we believe in the unifying power of sports to bring different cultures together and millions of foot passengers.” We are excited to bring soccer fans to Istanbul to watch the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, one of the most popular sports in the world.
In March, to celebrate the partnership, Turkish Airlines opened an exciting new exhibition in the Business Class Lounge at Istanbul Airport. The exhibition features memorabilia from the 2005 finals held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
Three stars
The video features soccer legends from around the world. Namely Ronaldinho, Cafu and Steven Gerrard – all of them have made a name for themselves and become idols for many young football fans around the world.

The film begins as he lands at Istanbul Airport, a Turkish Airlines airport. All three soccer celebrities are enjoying the airline’s business class. All are watching Adonia Fonseka’s journey at In-Flight Entertainment (IFE). We then see Adonias Fonseca doing some of his tricks and showing off his skills in the terminal.
The promotional video took about a month to shoot and was shot in eight different cities worldwide, including Istanbul, London, Manchester, Madrid, Lisbon, Milan, Naples and Munich. All these cities have hosted Champions League quarter-finals.
In his statement, the football legend Ronaldinho:
“I am very happy to see a talent from my native Brazil in this film. The many destinations featured in the production represent the diversity, energy and unifying power of this sport. Istanbul is one of the most amazing cities in the world, and Turkish Airlines lets you experience the magic. Turkish Airlines connects the world to Istanbul with its extensive network and exceptional service, and I am proud to be a part of this film.
Turkish Airlines and UEFA plan to release another in the coming days.
This campaign comes at a time when Turkish Airlines announced its strategic plan to meet the demand of 800 aircraft by 2033. The airline is making an annual profit of 2.7 billion dollars and has big goals in the 88 million target, according to Ronaldinho and co. Passengers this year.
