Riney, who has worked at Henry Ford Health since 1978, was tapped as Henry Ford’s CEO and president after serving in the interim role since August following the departure of Wright Lassiter.

The new CEO has worked in almost “every operating unit in the organization” and has served in roles for the company including senior vice president and chief administration officer, chief resources officer and vice president of organizational design and effectiveness, according to a press release.

“His strategic insights and ability to foster meaningful business partnerships and drive advancement of our clinical, research and academic distinctions are noteworthy,” system board chair David Breen said of Riney’s appointment in a release. “Additionally, he is very skilled and focused on fostering a culture of belonging between team members, patients and members, and our communities.” 

Riney is a graduate of Detroit-based Wayne State University. He is currently a trustee of the Alfred I. duPont Charitable Trust and a board member at the Michigan Health & Hospital Association, M1 Rail Transit Authority, Detroit Zoological Society and other organizations.
