Rishi Kapoor wanted his son Ranbir Kapoor to study in a business school, quoting Raj Kapoor, ‘Mujhe bas filmon mei…’

The late actor Rishi Kapoor was one. The most talented actors of the generation. He has given Hindi cinema some of the biggest audiences and earned a lot of money, love and fame for his acting career. However, like any parent, Ranbir Kapoor wants his son to have a safety net and a source of income not just in his acting career. After graduation, he told his son to join a trade school.

RanbirSpeaking to Red FM recently, he revealed that he was a rebellious child since his school days. “I was very rebellious. In school, I was the first one in my group to get a girlfriend. Mere friends merce bohot jalte ze, they thought I was a traitor, because mein unko chorr ke ladki ke peech bhag raha ta. (My friends were jealous of me, they thought I was a traitor because I ignored them for a girl).

After school, he added how his father Rishi Kapoor asked him to join a business school. Ranbir says, “After school, my father wanted me to join a business school as he wanted me to have a backup option if I didn’t succeed in films.

But Ranbir “had a clear vision of becoming an actor,” the actor said, adding that his grandfather had told his father that he would do nothing but act in films by singing Raj Kapoor’s ‘Jeena Yahaan Marna Yahaan’. “Toh maine apne aba ko unke aba ka gaana, ‘jena yahan marna yahan iske siva jaana khana’ suna dia. (I sang my grandfather’s song ‘Jeena Yahaan’ to my father) That was a very rebellious thing to do, adds the Sanju actor.

Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Talking about his father’s death, Ranbir told PTI, “The biggest thing that happens in an individual’s life is when you lose one of your parents. That’s really something… especially when you’re nearing your 40s, that’s when things like this usually happen… nothing prepares you for that, but it brings the family closer. Life makes you understand.

Ranbir is awaiting the release of his romantic comedy Tu Jutti Main Makakar. Also starring Shraddha Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Anubhav Bassi, the film hits the theaters on Wednesday. The actor also has Sandeep Reddy’s Vanga Animal in the pipeline, after which he plans to take a break and spend time with his son Raha.
