Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas are entering the fashion business together.
The pair have now partnered with Perfect Moment, a UK-based luxury fashion and sportswear brand specializing in ski and surfwear.
I recently caught up with Chopra Jonas about her new venture, her design work for the label and why she has no plans to sing with her husband anytime soon.
How did you get involved with Perfect Moment?
This is the first apparel, fashion and lifestyle company we have invested in. I grew up in India and was not exposed to ski culture. But I loved the mountains. My dad used to take us to Kashmir every summer and there was a lot of filming in Switzerland, so the skiing culture was something I knew. However, I didn’t try skiing until I met my husband, who is a skier.
I quickly came to the conclusion that I am an après-ski girl, not a skiing girl. I had given up on the rabbit hole. My husband bought me a snowmobile so I could go with him.
I bought a lot of nice winter clothes while getting to know the mountain culture. Many of them happened to be perfect moments. Last year, I was filming the new show “Citadel” in London. Nick and I met. [Perfect Moment owners] Jane and Max Gottschalk and talk about our love for the brand. They talked about growing the brand and we all had an “aha” moment and decided to invest and become partners.
I always think they get business proposals and pitches. How did you decide which ones to get involved with?
For me, I’m always looking to really expand my portfolio, I can’t really speak for Nick, but I’m sure it’s the same. I started investing a few years ago and love diversifying my portfolio. The decision is always to be able to align with the brand name and values. But it’s also a business decision: What’s the direction of brand growth?
Are you designing a piece for the perfect occasion?
We’ve discussed doing a capsule collection or something for the brand.
You’ve been in business together, but when will we see you and Nick on the same screen or in the recording studio singing together?
I love working with Nick to see things happen as the years go by. But I don’t sing along.
why not? You are also a singer.
Not like him! No chance. He is a musician.
But will you be together one day?
We’re definitely doing a lot of TV and film stuff together.
This interview has been edited and expanded for clarity.
