There was an armed robbery Tuesday night at the ARCO Minuteman gas station at 3346 S. Harlem Avenue in Riverside. The robbery happened around 8 p.m. The robber, armed with a black handgun, entered the gas station and ran off with more than $500 in cash, Riverside Public Safety Director Matt Buckley said.
14 hours later, 25-year-old Khalid Bryant was arrested sitting in a four-door Toyota sedan in a parking lot at Hillside Wolf Road and Harrison. Bryant was taken to the North Riverside Lockup and charged with armed robbery.
Police officers used video surveillance to determine that after the robbery, the robber ran to a car parked west of the gas station in the 300 block of Quincy Street in Riverside. Police were able to identify the car’s license plate from surveillance camera video. The car was spotted Wednesday morning near Eisenhower Expressway and Wolf Road. Police from Riverside, Bellwood and Hillside found the car in the parking lot and entered and arrested the woman as she got into the driver’s seat of the car. Bryant was sitting in the front passenger seat of the car.
“We used a lot of technology to identify the license plate and locate the car,” Buckley said.
