Espargaro was tipped to leave Honda earlier this year as the Japanese marque looks to reshuffle its line-up for 2023 following another tough campaign with the RC213V.
The Spaniard, who was expected to return to KTM with the Tech 3 team, confirmed that Espargaro had signed a two-year contract last time out at Silverstone and would be riding a “familiar” bike.
Ahead of this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, KTM has officially announced Espargaro’s appointment to the Tech 3 team following the loss of Red Bull’s support in 2021.
GasGas is a Spanish manufacturer bought by KTM in 2019.
KTM has confirmed that Tech3 will receive engine parity with the factory KTM team in 2023.
No word on who will share Espargaro with Tech3 next year.
In the year As the 2014 Moto2 World Champion, Espargaro made his MotoGP debut with the Tec3 team, leading the team with Yamaha machinery.
The Spaniard was unable to reach the podium in the premier class in his first three seasons as M1 largely disagreed with his riding style.

In the year Signed to a factory contract by KTM for his first start in MotoGP since 2017, Espargaro has taken the RC16 from back-of-the-grid runner to race winner in his 4th season with the marque.
In the year Espargaro scored KTM’s first MotoGP podium at the wet Valencia race in 2018, before adding a further five in 2020, although he was denied a first win at the Red Bull Ring that year by his Tech3 rival Miguel Oliveira.
Honda has taken on Espargaro for the 2021 season, with the Spaniard scoring two roastmeters with HRC at the otherwise fruitless Japanese marque.
His return to Tech3 and KTM now paves the way for 2020 World Champion Joan Mir to join the factory Honda team alongside Marc Marquez.
In a recent interview with Motorsport.com, Mir said he refrained from talking too much about his future plans, saying he felt asking such questions was “disrespectful” to the unknown future of the Suzuki team to leave MotoGP at the end of the year.
