Two new master’s degree programs offered by the University of Oklahoma reflect the impact of the epidemic on the fast-growing business world.
According to a statement from Michael F. Price College of Business, the programs focus on supply chain management and business analysis to respond to the needs of trained professionals in those areas.
“Any new program we offer must meet the high demand and high level of competence in the state,” said Dean Corey Pelps, of Presbyterian College.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that it will need 25-30% more professionals over the next decade, Pleps said.
“Graduates of these new programs are confident that there is a high demand for attractive wages in various industries,” he said.
The Master of Science in Business Analysis and Science Master supply chain management programs are designed to provide students with the business skills necessary to accelerate both technical knowledge and skills. In addition to Price College teachers, they should be taught by experienced industry leaders.
The programs are available to students online. According to the release, it usually takes 16 months or less to complete.
In the supply chain management program, students acquire specialized skills in problem-solving and strategic and system-level thinking skills. It was planned to complement and compensate Price College’s math, finance, and MBA programs.
The Master’s Business Analysis Program focuses on the application of statistical modeling, data storage and mining, programming, forecasting and operational research techniques. The curriculum focuses on using cutting-edge tools and techniques, including R, Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel and SPSS, to make data-based business decisions in a variety of industries.
Registration is currently open for fall 2022 semester.
“Our nationwide online master programs are offered in more engaging, interactive, and impactful classes than previously recorded sessions,” Pelps said. “(They) meet students where they are, which allows them to complete their degrees quickly. Adding these new areas of study is one way we can continue to ensure the sustainable global competitiveness of Oklahoma and the nation.
