Olivia Palermo at Cocker Fashion Week

This July, Couture Fashion Week, one of the most exciting events in the fashion calendar, is celebrated in Paris. Here, some of the world’s most respected designers present their creations on February Way, and draw big names in fashion, rushing forward.

One of the names to take part in this week’s Giambattista Valli’s 10-year anniversary is Olivia Palermon.

We met with a socialist and entrepreneur to talk about what goes into her styling process, why she doesn’t think of fashion and who would encourage her more when she came to her closet.

What was the inspiration for your outfit for your show?

Giambattista Valli is one of my absolute favorite designers. I always feel amazing every time I wear one design and everything in the collection is a safe bet to add to your wardrobe. As I prepared for the show, I immediately drew in a little bit of warmth in this lace shift dress. I liked the modern look on the image and the fabric.

We carry that feeling with Glam. My makeup artist Nelson Catarino played a retro sixth mod vibe from the Olivia Palermo Beauty Regalia Eyeshadow Gallery as a graphic. She lightened her lips with a nude Rosebud matte lipstick from my collection.

Inspired by the floral pattern on the dress, my hairdresser Benjamin Pinon created floral designs (reminiscent of the Eden serpent) by placing the remaining hair in a two-piece suit with a simple back chin.

How involved were you in the styling process?

I am a style haha! I have always prepared myself. Of course, I work very closely with designers and PR and tailors to get things right, but in the end I always dress for myself.

How has your style improved over the years? How has your relationship with your style, body and appearance changed over the years?

My eyes have really improved. Everyone does. In the late teens and early twenties, you wear things differently. I think my style is pretty consistent, but it is distorted but polished and customized.

What has been your most memorable fashion moment in the last few years?

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the Gambamista Course Collection and that was an amazing achievement. I was at his first couch show 10 years ago and remember it happily so it was very special to attend his annual celebration.

Whose style did you always admire and why?

When I admired anyone’s style, I did not find it. Throughout my travels, I have been inspired by my style, taking in different things from the women and men I meet on the streets. The way one woman wore a dress in one city may be similar to the way another woman wore a jumpsuit in another city – I put those views in and later combined things in a way that reflected my personal style. And I am always inspired by the women and men in my life, especially my wife. I like men’s clothing and it has a special ability for slimming.

Fashion has a good reputation as a fruit, but why do the clothes we wear make a difference?

I find that view ridiculous. We all need to dress to feel inspired and to look their best. There is no point in wanting to feel like the best version of yourself. It’s thinking.
