Chandler, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Police are searching for suspects after a shooting outside the Chandler Fashion Center Monday evening. According to Sgt. Jason McClimans with Chandler police said surveillance video shows the suspect taking off before police arrived.
Police said no one is allowed inside the mall at this time. The Arizona Family News Chopper was on scene and found a portion of the parking lot taped off. Police cars were also stationed at the mall’s entrances, as shoppers huddled together.
Sgt. McClimans says no one was hurt, and it’s not an active shooter situation. “There is no danger to the community or the mall at this time,” he said. However, it is not known why he was shot. The investigation is ongoing.
This is the second police situation at the Valley Mall in a few days. Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe was evacuated Friday after a gunman pointed a gun at another person and ran into the mall. Officers and mall security quickly evacuated everyone but did not find the gunman. No injuries were reported, and the mall was soon reopened.
