A new survey by Adventure.Travel reveals that Americans are eager to explore the world in the New Year.
A survey of 500 travelers by adventure travel insurance provider World Nomads found that not only 94 percent plan to travel by 2023, but 93 percent plan to take two or more trips in the next year.
Adventure.Travel, a division of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, further broke down the places these 500 respondents plan to travel.
- 65 percent travel domestically
- 52 percent plan to visit Europe
- 19 percent to Asia
- 19 percent to South America
- 15 percent for Mexico
Despite the growing desire to go out and make up for lost time, sixty-seven percent are cautious about spending money on travel. Two other key considerations were the availability of local restaurants and lodging (50 percent) and the ability to walk or bike (44 percent).
Christina Tunah, general manager of marketing and brand for World Nomads, said Americans are planning “long-haul and off-the-beaten-path destinations” and that “there’s a trend in different cities and international destinations” in the coming year. “
This can be seen in the data:
- 70 percent of Americans want to explore a destination
- 46 percent want to see wildlife up close
- 31 percent want to immerse themselves in a new culture
- 20 percent identified adventure and outdoor activities as their main reasons for traveling.
But these travelers are still careful and these are the main issues, at the bottom, they lead 76 percent to buy travel insurance.
- 54 percent over environmental issues
- 34 percent over global economic instability.
- It is 30 percent more likely to reoccur from Covid-19
