The 2022 Technology Report highlights the practical success of eight injury prevention technology applications and highlights opportunities for further technology development.

The Common Ground Alliance (CGA), which protects underground utility lines and the people who dig near them, has published its fifth annual technology report, “Technology Advances and Gaps in Underground Safety 2022,” which serves as a record of progress. The case studies presented in Report They are examples of industry-provided technology improvements and/or a preview of what is being developed to address ongoing challenges in the injury prevention process.
Prepared by the CGA Technology Committee, the report seeks to raise the bar on industry knowledge by sharing technologies that address challenges in the injury prevention system. The report details the harm prevention technologies presented by stakeholders, barriers to widespread use of new technologies, and opportunities for technology development in the harm prevention process.
with Report, CGA is launching a new searchable technology hub that will provide users with all types of injury prevention technology case studies, including a stakeholder group and technology screening capability. The Center also maintains a submission form for new case studies and will continue to update as more studies are approved for publication.
“The technology case studies featured in this year’s report are just a few examples of the innovations being adopted by our industry, showing how effective and efficient the damage prevention process can be with strong industry buy-in,” said Nick Starke, CGA Technology Committee. Co-Chairman. “As harm prevention stakeholders, we must prioritize technology investment and see innovation as a key path to our goal of zero harm.”
