Big changes are coming to Mireault furniture for 2023, with the biggest change starting at the beginning of the year.
The previous owners sold the business privately in December of last year, but under this new ownership the shop will maintain old traditions while working on new experiences.
Founded over 50 years ago, Mireault Furniture was a staple of the Fosston community. The big picture of a family owned and operated business will be a reality after the recent acquisition by a local husband and wife.
Mike and Michelle Kurfman had been in talks with Greg Mireault for over a month before the ownership change was complete. But just because there are new names like the owners of Mireault, that doesn’t mean that the traditions of face-to-face sales and family-first thinking are out.
Instead, the Curfmans, being a local family from Fosston, are planning to keep Mireault’s spirit similar. And while Mike and Michelle work to learn the furniture store’s layout and plans, Greg Mireol is helping to ensure a seamless transition.
Further changes will be implemented by 2023, with plans to unify the store’s distinctive features, such as the name and atmosphere. Mireault himself said he has been running the online store for about six years. Now, only a few finishing touches are needed to ensure a successful launch, especially with the checkout section. The online store, which will allow the store to stay competitive, is expected to be fully operational in the next few months.
Regardless of whether it’s in-store or online, one part will likely remain the same: the household name.
The transition to new ownership will be officially completed in March.
