Starting Monday morning, the new Sapphire Terrace is open to visitors at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas.
However, despite having “Sapphire” in its name, this place is not a traditional Chase Sapphire Lounge. So, what is it, and how does it differ from a lounge?
Here’s a first look at this indoor-outdoor space at the Austin airport — plus how to get there.

Where is Chase Sapphire Terrace in Austin?
The new Sapphire Terrace is an integrated indoor-outdoor space covering approximately 5,000 square feet, with 80% outdoor terrace and 20% indoor space.
The entrance is located at the end of the passenger terminal, near Gate 1. Take the stairs or elevator to the top level, which is the same access point for the Delta Sky Club. The entrance to Sapphire Terrace is on the left.

This area used to be a publicly accessible terrace on the east side for plane spotting. During Austin’s warmer months (May through October), the outdoor space gets really hot, especially in the mornings when the sun goes down. Even in the afternoon it gets hot outside with indirect sun. This can affect how long you want to stay on the outdoor patio – just like any bad weather since the roof isn’t completely closed.
Sapphire Terrace is located at the end of the terminal near the Delta Air Lines gates, so it is not the most convenient location for those flying on other airlines, especially American Airlines and United Airlines.
How do I get to Chase Sapphire Terrace in Austin?
Not part of the Sapphire Terrace Priority Pass. Instead, access is granted only to Chase Sapphire Reserve Card holders.

Highlights of Chase Sapphire Terrace in Austin
Billed as “a place to relax, recharge and refuel before your flight,” Sapphire Terrace leans into Austin’s local culture. Additional beverages and light bites include cider and beer from Austin Eastsiders (512) Brewing Company.

Another nice touch is the artwork by local muralist Rex Hamilton decorating the space.
In addition to drinks and grab-and-go food, the venue will include special features like shuffleboard on the patio and giveaways during grand opening week (March 20-26).

Both indoor and outdoor areas include many types of seating. Whether you want to hang out with a group or do some work individually, there are plenty of options. However, we think this facility will be popular and busy with Sapphire Reserve cardholders.

at last
Sapphire Reserve cardholders who live in or fly to Austin can find a new place to relax before their flights. The Sapphire Terrace is now open near Gate 1, offering free grab-and-go snacks, drinks and games. For many, the best feature may be the planetarium, but remember that this is primarily an outdoor space exposed to the elements. Also, the salon doesn’t open until 10am so plan your visit accordingly.
