FAIRMONT – New Trade, Southern Minnesota Leather Solutions, will open Monday at Vermont. The business, owned and operated by McKenzie Terfehr, is located on 1235 Highway 15 S.
Terrier grew up in a well-to-do country, and now she lives with her family just south of Fermont.
When asked if this is something you always want to do, “I never said I wanted to start my own business.”
However, she says that changes in her family have made her look for better hours and more flexibility in her life. Most recently, Terfehr has been working as a dermatologist in central Iowa.
Terrier is a dermatologist who has worked in the field for 13 years.
Terrier says she loves what she does. “There are things you see regularly, but there is something new and different that goes through the door every day.”
When working with skin, she said, it involves a lot of things, including systemic and environmental diseases.
“It’s crazy how the skin integrates into our bodies in so many ways.” Terrier said.
She says dermatology is growing rapidly and there are many different treatments. There are also new treatments that are being tried.
Terrier says she has been thinking of starting her own business for the past six months.
“I have always been a big supporter of Fermont development. Our children are also deeply rooted here. We want to continue to grow and develop. Terrier said.
She says it would be better for the community to bring services, especially the highly specialized dermatology.
“It is very, very important. There Are Not Many Options ” She said.
When Terfer learned of the ordinary conversation about the building, she said she was lucky to find it. She said it fell everywhere.
“We burned everything and started again. We were 100% renewed to update it and make it more accessible. Terrier said.
Southern Minnesota Skin Solutions offers a wide range of skin care services, unlike the recent spa-like services in Fermont. Although it offers some cosmetic services, Terfer says most of them are medical dermatologists.
“I want to see other businesses take more control over the makeup.” Terrier said.
Some target areas include acne, eczema, hair loss, warts, psoriasis, rash and skin cancer.
The last place for dermatology is Mayo Clinic Health System-Firemont.
“This is unique to the area compared to the past.” Terhepher said.
Terhefer also said that she is a big supporter of rural health and that there is a big difference in rural health.
“Increasing the size of a small town, home-based feeling will be very important in a highly specialized dermatology service and a great asset to the community.” Terrier said.
Terrier is the sole supplier and has two employees, Natalie Shimon and Rachel Sack, who hopes to grow over time.
Southern Minnesota Skin Solutions will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., 30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. More information is available at southermnskin.com.
