Some cars are designed to instantly resonate with each driver. And others… Well, you feel a rapid generational difference, because car builders generally start to focus on drivers who don’t love driving.

The new 2022 Lexus NX, like any other new vehicle, packs the owner with data and information, and the right way down-to-highway looks sometimes seems like a backlash. In this case, it is a bold step for Lexus, creating a machine that focuses on the younger generation, which may seem like an alternative to the once-fruited RX models, as the new owners may have grown up and moved around their entire lives.

Earlier this year I had an Ultrasound Blue Mic NX 350F Sport model, that blue shade is the standard color for Japanese SUVs, and both really disconnected and at the same time, I felt that I had neglected the data load and enjoyed the ride.



The 183.5-inch-long vehicle, priced at $ 46,650 by the manufacturer, came to me as a package of $ 55,510, with brilliant three-beam headlights, 20-inch wheels, a Mark Levinson stereo system and a panoramic moon. It also includes a 14-inch touch screen, cloud-based Drive Connect and Alexa-styled “Hey Lexus” personal assistant and a full-fledged forward-thinking technology with a panoramic view. Both NX hybrid and plug-in electric versions are available.

The first NX edition was my favorite Lexus model, because the brand was all-encompassing but expensive for its stable friends Lux / button-heavy mantra.



I think I had a very well-equipped 2022 NX as a starting point, but the fully loaded feature here was probably a good overview of where Lexus is going (there is an NX 250, and, if not a turbo, a 2.5-liter engine generates 203 horsepower). It starts with the door handles on the inside to remind you of their function.

Fortunately, I trained on a set of two-dimensional thumb controllers on the wheel that can switch between different mod settings on a very large and very intuitive auto-display.

In my new Tundra, like my first day, there was that huge screen that was not configured with a tag based on my own phone, so it didn’t work properly.

That panoramic view is also very tricky because it also offers 360-degree NX viewing.

And, yes, it also has motors and brakes. Who knows? There’s a surprisingly well-designed 2.4-liter engine with a capacity of 275 horsepower, which I was able to run very fast and produce more than enough pressure – which made it very loud. Combined with eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive, 25 MP.

Still a smaller platform than the most advanced RX, the LX is occasionally a bit of a foot (snowy day, I don’t help without snow tires), but on dry asphalt, the light touch is sporty and comfortable.

The seat is a unique sport, which means it may remind some young drivers of their old child seat. I can’t say if that’s the strategy and all the distractions and entertainment resources, but some drivers might really find it very convenient.

The advantage of touch screens is that they reduce the size of the standard load-loading buttons, with a small amount of auto-stop and other controls hidden behind a small and low profile switch. I read the NX guide on 768 pages to find out what a small tree symbol is, I get some organic snow mode or drag upgrade. No dice. Organic patterns on the speaker cover, lots of piano black throughout the digital dash and zig-zag design around the console all contribute to a beautiful look.
