While The whole NFT thing is mercifully at THe refused, there are still companies out there –Like Square Enix– Trying to secure a partnership with a technology that is just a big scam. Mojang is obviously not one of them.
In a long statement Minecraft’s SiteThe group detailed why they have not adopted the technology to date and why they have taken steps to block any blockchain-related implementation. Minecraft.
Hey, if blockchain proves to be anything other than a big bust, most of the post will attack the tech “to promote digital ownership based on scarcity and exclusion,” including a brief note. Incompatible with Minecraft The values of creative inclusion and play together.
It also states why blockchain technology and NFTs are banned in the game, “In order to ensure a safe and inclusive experience for Minecraft players, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated into our client and server applications and cannot be accessed in Minecraft. Game content such as worlds, skins, individual items or other modules are used with blockchain technology to create a small digital asset.
You can read the guide in its entirety below (emphasis theirs, not mine).
Our policy on NFTS and MINECRAFT
In our Minecraft user guide, we explain how a server owner charges for access and how all players have the same functionality. We have these rules so that Minecraft remains a community where everyone has the same content. NFTs, however, can create patterns of scarcity and exclusion that go against our guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft.
In order to ensure a safe and inclusive experience for Minecraft players, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated into our client and server applications, and Minecraft in-game content such as worlds, skins, personal items or other modules cannot be used. Blockchain technology to create limited digital assets. Our reasons follow.
Some companies have recently launched NFT implementations associated with Minecraft world files and skin packs. Other examples of how NFTs and blockchain can be used in Minecraft include Minecraft creating collectible NFTs, allowing players to earn NFTs for activities on the server, or earning Minecraft NFT rewards for activities outside of the game.
Each of these uses of NFTs and other blockchain technologies creates digital ownership based on scarcity and exclusion, which is inconsistent with Minecraft’s values of creative inclusion and co-play. NFTs do not encompass all of our society and create conditions for the haves and have-nots. The speculative pricing and investment mentality surrounding NFTs takes the focus away from playing the game and encourages profitability, which we believe is incompatible with the long-term happiness and success of our players.
We are concerned that some third-party NFTs may be unreliable and may charge players who purchase them. Some third-party NFT implementations are entirely based on blockchain technology and may require an asset manager that can disappear without notice. There have also been instances where NFTs were sold at artificial or fraudulent inflation. We recognize that creativity has intrinsic value in our games, and we strive to provide a marketplace where those values are recognized.
Likewise, to ensure Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience; Blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated into our Minecraft client and server applications, and may not be used to create NFTs associated with any in-game content, including worlds, skins, human objects, or other modules.. We will also carefully monitor blockchain technology as it evolves over time to ensure that the above principles are adhered to and enable more secure experiences or other practical and inclusive applications in gaming. However, we currently have no plans to implement blockchain technology into Minecraft.
We hope to have more to share with you soon. In the meantime, if you’re interested in reading up on our guides, you can find them here. over here. Follow it!
