Michigan Tech will celebrate the construction of the Nara Family Maple Center this Thursday.

Michigan Tech’s many forested lands are laboratories and playgrounds for forestry students. In total, the school has more than 5,000 acres of forest, with various satellite locations throughout the Upper Peninsula. The 658-acre MTU Forest at Linden Lake is home to a mix of hardwoods, wetlands and lowland conifers, and now a new building. Michigan Tech is cutting the ribbon for a new addition to the Nara Family Forest. Join Michigan Tech this Thursday to celebrate the newly constructed Nara Family Maple Center. Participants will hear from university leaders, faculty from the College of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, and faculty from the Nara family. A ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Meet Michigan Tech leaders, the Nara family and MTU’s College of Forestry and Environmental Sciences at the new Maple Center at 45016 N. Jacobsville Road, Lake Linden. Michigan Tech’s forestry satellite campus locations are used for a variety of research studies, forestry student education, and demonstration projects.
