Michelle Duggar, the matriarch of the Duggar family, is known for her long dresses and skirts, so her fans were surprised when she stepped out in a new look.
The 56-year-old reality star joined her nine daughters for a girls’ day at Onyx Coffee Lab in Bentonville, Arkansas, and wore a black dress with shorts. The 19-year-old mom completed the look with a blue shirt and gray sneakers.
Jessa Seewald, 30, shared the photo and wrote, “The older everyone gets, the busier life gets—which means it’s always special when we get all 9 of us sisters + moms together in the same place! Last week was golden. 🤍🤍”

Jinger Vuolo, 29, posted a scan of the photos and shared, “We had a great time visiting my family in Arkansas. Girl time with all my sisters and my sweet mom, meeting some new nieces and nephews, eating lots of good food and lots of late night chats.
The photos also include Anna Duggar, 33, Jill Dillard, 31, Joy-Anna Forsyth, 25, and younger Duggar sisters Johanna, 17, Jennifer, 15, Jordyn-Grace, 14, and Josie, 13.
In fact, many of the women in the photo were wearing pants, including Jill in dark orange cargo pants and Joy in maternity jeans.
Long dresses were always part of the family’s modest dress code. Jinger introduced the legislation in a 2021 “Hope We Hold” memo.
She said: “My mother always dressed us girls in skirts and dresses; This requirement is taken from Deuteronomy 22:5, which says ‘A woman shall not wear men’s clothing’. Modesty was a big topic in our house, and we believed that wearing dresses instead of pants was an integral part of being modest. But I wanted to know for myself what the Bible had to say.
After doing her own research, Jinger said, “She never found a clause that prohibited women from wearing pants.”
She concluded: “Growing up, I had standards that I took for granted. Now, as I reexamine and compare it to the scriptures, my beliefs are changing. Modesty is not a garment you wear. heart.”
