Miami Fashion Week shifts to November.

Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW), the second largest fashion event in the United States, announced on Friday that its annual event, normally scheduled for May, has been moved to November.

The organizers of the fashion event said that MIAFW aims to establish Miami as a center of production and communication fashion. The event has been working closely with Miami-Dade County since January to create a community-focused event that prioritizes advancing fashion in South Florida.

While the runway shows remain the focal point, MAFW will expand the event into other areas highlighting the latest trends, developments and opportunities in the industry, with a focus on technology and sustainability.

This includes a fashion ‘Think Tank’ that serves as a global reference for diversity, sustainability and innovation in technology. The event has a media impact of 4.2 billion views by 2022, using its power of communication to benefit the fashion industry and leverage technology and AI.

Sustainability and second-hand fashion will also be a focus of the event, and diversity programs will highlight the global vision of the industry, organizers said.

Finally, as part of its commitment to innovation, MIAFW established a presence in Web3 at L’Atelier in Decentraland and pioneered the world’s first Sustainability Summit in 2017. The renewed event shows the growth of the industry, the intersection of fashion and technology.

“Overall, MIFW’s move to November and the establishment of a fashion ‘think tank’ in Miami marks a huge step forward for the industry,” said event organizers.

“The event provides a unique platform for innovation, collaboration and growth, confirming MIAFW’s position as a leader in the fashion industry.”

After a two-year hiatus, MIAFW returns in May 2022, with 2nd Italian label Missoni as special guest. Like the upcoming 2023, the event focused on sustainability, setting up runways in museums and historic homes.

Exact dates for the November MIAFW event have yet to be confirmed.
