E-Commerce Beginner and Men’s Fashion App Double-Operator Taylor Town won the prestigious D.Day Monthly Startup Competition with the nonprofit Startup Incubation Foundation D.CAMP and Select Venture Capital in South Korea.
The June competition was part of an industrial-academic collaboration with Yonsai University, Sogang University, Sungkuunkuwan University, KAIST, POSTECH, Ewha Womans University, Hayang University and Korea University. All six companies are less than a year old.
Since its inception in 2013, D.CAMP has been working with universities to establish entrepreneurship training courses and support university start-up clubs.
Taylor Town, who won the D.CAMP Dream Prize last month, will create a platform for men in their 30s and 50s. The app offers integrated styles that include up to 12 fashion items depending on the user’s needs. In the months since it began in January, Dumbel has gained 70 percent of its market share. The company aims to expand its services to men’s studios, including golf fashion, accessories and beauty products.
The winner of the Campus Adventure Award is a web service called PROPS. The app lets users know everything about seized assets, easily enter their target real estate address, from market value to property structure. This will help reduce the hassle of manually checking the registry and building record. It is also possible to prevent financial fraud by checking the security level of real estate products in advance.
Audience Award for in-depth home-based tracking software. Immovable sensor technology is used to monitor indoor location at a distance of less than 50 cm. This is accurate enough to determine which item on the shelf in the store will be available to the buyer. The technology is being piloted by COEX and some e-brand stores and stock offices. The company is engaged in the development of in-house mapping services in collaboration with major domestic and foreign technology companies such as Google and Naver.
Consultwear, another state-of-the-art company, is developing an environmentally friendly fashion brand called Nax. Nax uses environmentally friendly materials and vegan skin treatments and coatings certified by Global Recycling Standard (GRS) to reduce the environmental impact of the entire production process. Nax leather clothing and fashion accessories are affordable and more durable than popular fashion brands.
Vacatio currently operates the Haw Concert application service, which creates limited travel packages on Jeju Island, Korea. The travel application creates a good travel plan based on the user’s travel route, friends, preferred location and children’s zone or pet supply. Howe, which has a 93 percent customer retention rate, plans to build an interactive chatbot for more than 80 percent of auxiliary staff by learning 100,000 customer travel information.
Innovaid runs a digital platform called Dentlink that can coordinate and manage the referral process between dentists and dental laboratories. Although many automated platforms are being set up that connect doctors and pharmacies, dentists still do some work when asked to produce or repair dental proteins, such as crowns and orthodontic devices. Dentist Cook Jean-Huyke Dentlink, a dentist, has developed digitalisation in the field of dentistry, and emails and telephones remain the mainstay of communication.
