Mark Wahlberg’s kids don’t like his ’90s fashion sense.
Wahlberg, 51, recently sat down with “Me Time” co-stars Kevin Hart and Regina Hall for an interview in which he shared his kids are “so embarrassing” in their old form.
“Oh, they’re so embarrassed by it,” Wahlberg said of the “Marky Mark”-era fashion during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Marky Mark” was Wahlberg’s stage name in the 90s.
However, Wahlberg jokingly added, “My son, he’s been in a shirt and his underwear is hanging down the whole time we’ve been on summer vacation.” He totally stole the show.”
Wahlberg shares four children with his wife of 13 years, Rhea Durham: Ella, 18, Michael, 16, Brendan, 13, and Grace, 12.
Before making his acting debut, Wahlberg was the lead singer and songwriter of the “Funky Bunch.” The hip-hop group It debuted in 1991 and stars Wahlberg (Mark Mark), Scott Ross (Scotty G), Hector Barros (Hector The Booty Inspector), Terry Yancey (DJ-T) and Anthony Thomas (Ashley Ace).
The band’s most popular song is “Good Vibrations”. They also released other hits including “Wildside”, “I Need Money” and “Having a Good Time”. The group went their separate ways in 1993.
His daughter Ella has been spotted wearing a “Marky Mark and Funky Butch” T-shirt in recent months.
Before becoming an actor, Wahlberg was a model for Calvin Klein. After his music career and modeling for Calvin Klein, he ventured into movies. His debut was in the 1994 film “Renaissance Man”. He got his first lead role a few years later in the 1996 film “Fear”.
In a recent appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Wahlberg revealed that his oldest son, Michael, is still ashamed of him.
“My son will soon be 16,” he said. “And he’s embarrassed by everything I do. Things that people think are cool in 2022, like movies and stuff. He’s like, ‘Dad, that’s so stupid. Dad, that’s so scary.’
Despite his son’s criticism, Wahlberg said the whole family got together to see his new comedy “Me Time.”
“I watched with my whole family. [without them] To know anything about the story and the script and to see the children enjoy it as adults [was great],” he said.
“There are a lot of jokes that go a little over their heads, but it’s a lot of fun.” “Me Time,” starring Wahlberg, Hart and Hall, will premiere on Netflix on August 26.
