Not only this, but Bollywood also has no solid tradition of making films on literary works. In such a situation, occasional glimpses of literary works can be seen in a few films.
Bored with this habit of Hindi cinema, writer, actor, and producer Vijay Thakur once again thought of reviving literature in films, for which he chose the last story written by Munshi Premchand, ‘Kafan’ Decided to make the film ‘Baikunth’. But the journey to make this film was very difficult.

Vijay says, “Being connected to the theater, I felt very strongly that a film should be made on a literary work and then we made all kinds of efforts to make the film ‘Baikunth’. But the way to make ‘Baikunth’ is a big Struggling struggle. ” He adds, “It costs crores of rupees to make any film. Filming is a big business and the producer does not want to take any kind of risk and invest money in out-of-the-box films. A writer and As an actor, I did not have enough money to make ‘Baikunth’. In this situation, all my colleagues from the theater together agreed that two names are very important, Anurag Agnihotri and Anupama Agnihotri, who has always been supportive Despite living in Bangkok, everyone supported ‘Kafan’ as ‘Baikunth’ which was not an easy task but our Team’s passion made it come true. ”

How long will we not give the audience something new to think about? “How long will we continue to ignore the great and classical literary creations? If we do not make films based on literature, then who will take the initiative to address the social realities of India? Will bring them in front of the audience? The answer to all these questions is ‘Baikunth’.
In the story, ‘Kafan’, written against the backdrop of two men named Ghisu and Madhav, forced to live a very struggling life in the village, the great storyteller Premchand presented with great poignancy the casteism, the plight of the landless peasants, and the economic inequality prevailing in the society.
