There are lunch parties, and then there are Luncheons. It takes a lot to impress the fashion crowd, especially in the middle of fashion week when everyone is pulling out the stops, but Miteressa and Gabriela Hearst did just that by inviting their closest friends to lunch at none other than Eleven Madison Park. .
MyTeresa’s Michael Kliger, Eleven Madison Park chef Daniel Hume and designer Gabriela Hearst hosted the likes of Mena Harris, Sophia Roe, Athena Calderon, Olivia Palermo and Johannes Hubel, Stephanie Shepard, Ariel Nicholson and more for an eclectic meal at the vegan restaurant. The event comes after a meeting between Mitheresa and Hearst in Munich a few years ago, which was so successful that they wanted to recreate it in New York this fashion week.
Before she sat down, Hearst said she was a close friend of Hume, which is how she was able to secure the high-end restaurant for the place.
“He’s one of the closest people. I bring the people I love together,” she said.
Hume told the class that he and Hearst had been friends for some time and that he had a front-row seat to her career from its inception.
“Gabby is taking over the world and doing it in a new way with a higher purpose message,” Hamm said. We spent a lot of time together during the pandemic and these were scary times and we didn’t know what was going to happen to our industries, and whether we would have a job or a future, and it was amazing to see her come out of it so strongly.
Hearst returned the credit to a chef friend, recalling that he told her midway through the outbreak that he wanted to do it as a vegan restaurant when it reopened.
“I was like, ‘Um,'” Hearst told the class, to much laughter. “As your friend, you are talking to bankruptcy attorneys and you are famous for your duck. I just want to make sure this is clear.
Guests tasted just how right the ham was, such as chilled sesame sauce with honeydew, Celtus steamed cucumbers, roasted squash with poblano peppers and scallions, and fresh peaches on tap with cherries and almonds.
