Luisa Ortega appointed president of Cola-Cola Africa business

Beverage giant Coca-Cola has appointed Luisa Ortega as president of its African operations unit to oversee markets on the continent. Ortega currently serves as president of the company’s central zone in Latin America, which includes Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Central America and the Caribbean.

Ortega succeeds Bruno Petracci, who has been appointed president of Coca-Cola’s Latin American operations.

Both changes will come into effect on 1 February 2023. Ortega will move to Johannesburg in 2023.

Ortega and Petracci will report to Henrik Braun, who will become president of Coca-Cola on January 1, 2023.

“I am delighted to have Louisa bring her knowledge and global expertise to lead our work in Africa. I am also excited to bring Bruno to his home country of Latin America, where he has extensive experience in multiple markets,” said Brown.

Ortega’s credentials

A native of Spain, Ortega joined Coca-Cola in 2019 as vice president and general manager of the South Latin business unit. He was later named vice president and then president of South Latin. In the year In 2021, she became President of the Central Zone of the newly created Latin American Operations Division. She also serves as chair of the company’s Global Women’s Leadership Council.

Prior to Coca-Cola, Ortega worked at SC Johnson for over 14 years in various roles in Europe, the United States and the Asia Pacific region. She also worked at Indesa, a utility corporation serving mainly Spain and Portugal.

Ortega holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas and an MBA from IESE Business School, both in Spain, along with attending Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

About Bruno Petracci

Pietracci joined Coca-Cola in Brazil in 2008 as vice president of strategic planning and research. In the year In 2010 he moved to Operations to lead the Southern Brazil region. He was later appointed General Manager of the Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador markets.

In the year In 2016, Petracci became Vice President of Operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He later served as president of the company’s South and East Africa business unit and president of the Africa and Middle East business unit. Pietracci was appointed President of the African Operations Division in 2021. In 2022, the US President appointed the African Business Advisory Council (PAC-DBIA).

Prior to Coca-Cola, Pietrachi worked with McKinsey & Co. in Brazil and Lisbon. was with

Pietracci holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidad Estadual de Campinas in Brazil and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
