Louisiana Tech University has been selected as one of three locations in the state to host the Louisiana Science Teachers Association (LSA) and Louisiana Mathematics Teachers Association (LATM) conferences. Faculty from the Interstate-20 area as well as faculty and staff from the College of Education and the Louisiana Department of Education attended the event.
“The main focus was to bring STEM teachers together again without face-to-face conferences due to Covid and discuss issues and best practices around inquiry-based teaching in math and science,” said coordinator Christopher Campbell. The event and UTeachTech master teacher.
The teachers were also able to hear from state education department staff about statewide initiatives. Over 100 teachers participated in the January 28th TechTwenty teachers event at three locations (New Orleans, Lake Charles and Ruston).
“We are grateful to Chris Campbell with UTeachTech for bringing this event to Louisiana Tech University and giving us the opportunity to host one of three sessions with LATM and LSTA in the state,” said Dr. Lindsay Vincent, associate dean for research, external affairs and innovation for the College of Education. “Bringing together faculty leaders, university faculty and LADOE team members to learn and work together was a powerful, rich and interactive experience.”
