CHARLOTTE – Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is recovering after suffering a heart attack on the field on Monday Night Football just four nights ago.
According to his agent, Hamlin can breathe and speak on his own.
A local company decided to support Hamlin’s important cause.
Carl Fockler, a lifelong Bills fan and owner of the Sheets Laundry Club, donated $25,003 to the Changing M Foundation Community Toy Drive, a fundraiser started in Hamlin.
The fundraiser supports toy cars, back-to-school drives, kids’ camps and more.
Fockler added the three dollars to Hamlin’s number 25,000 at the start, which was three.
Fokler is on the charity’s board and knows his donation is money well spent.
“This year, with the economy, a lot of kids didn’t have Christmas. When you go and serve them and see how a bike or a toy feels…if you steal the magic of Christmas from these kids…that’s something we can’t stand,” Fochler said.
Donations to the Go-Fund-Me have topped $8 million.
