Lizzo’s brand Yitty launched gender-affirming shapewear

It’s no secret that Lizo is a passionate advocate of self-love. Alongside her confidence-boosting music — which includes “Good As Hell,” “2 Loved (I’m Ready)” and the Grammy-award-winning “Time to Destroy” — the singer is launching her TT shapewear brand in 2022. Helping women of all body types “feel unapologetically about themselves.”
On Thursday, ahead of International Transgender Day of Visibility, the brand announced its first line of gender-affirming shapewear.
Titled “Your Skin,” the collection features binder tongs and stickers that have been two years in the making, according to an announcement posted on the brand’s Instagram page. These clothes are often used by trans or gender diverse people – They are designed to have a flatter contour that is visible on the chest or crotch areas.
“I can only speak from my own experience, but I feel like I’ve lost a lot of time in my body,” wrote non-binary model Shahim Anderson on Instagram for the “Your Skin” campaign. “I’ve always looked to clothes to express who I am on the inside… but there are still challenges, certain images. How exciting to finally be selling tank tops and bottoms from a major brand like YT!!

“It’s one thing to be involved in a campaign, but to be involved in a campaign that can make a difference in someone’s life and validate the feeling in it means (the world).”

The “Your Skin” collection, the rest of which has yet to be announced, will be available in late summer 2023, the brand said.

“Yati believes in self-love for people of all gender identities – including the trans, non-binary, gender fluid and gender non-conforming communities,” the brand wrote in a press release. “It is TT’s mission to continue serving all constituents, which is why these core styles are always available at TT.”

Lizzo launched her own brand in April 2022 in partnership with Fabletics, after expressing her growing pains in uncomfortable shapewear. The singer-turned-fashion entrepreneur is committed to offering her shapewear in a wide range of sizes from XS to 6X.

“I’ve watched countless videos of people styling their clothes to make their bodies feel like they really belong,” Lizzo wrote in an Instagram post. “I’ve heard people say they want to be fluid, whether it’s their mood or how they want to present their body. And I wanted to help.”

“It’s because we’re doing this for you,” she added. “Every damned part.”
