A number of new businesses have opened or are about to be completed in the La Jola area, including some that bring international attention.
Here is a list of other businesses around the city.
Mrkt Space
Mr. Space, which operates as an all-in-one cafe and market, was opened in late June at the Whitney Building at the La Jola Shors 2202 Avenida de la Playa.
According to his wife, Matt Power, the establishment offers a “high standard of living” in everything from coffee to cocktails and breakfast to dinner.
“We use the Australian method of brewing coffee … which creates a creamy, flavorful product,” said Power, Aussie himself. But my business partners are Italian, so the menu reflects that.
Items include avocado toast for breakfast and snacks for lunch; Take-and-go items such as baked goods, meat and cheese plates, salads and sandwiches; Vegan options and a full market for snacks and wines.
Power said the afternoon offerings will focus on the concept of cocktails and bites inspired by Italy.
“We’re creating a new level of comfort, so it’s a high-quality experience,” he said.

Eppig Brewing
Eppig Brewing at the end of the summer at 1273 Prospect St. The 1,300-square-foot tasting room is open to La Jolla and features an ocean view courtyard.
It joins two other San Diego-area Eppig tasting rooms.
“The trip to La Jolla is a clear choice,” said APig founder Tod Warsaw.

After a two-year stay at The Village, the Ciao Ciao Piadina Restaurant closed in late June at 510 Pearl St.
Giacomo Pizzigoni, managing partner of the Milano Five Group, which operates on Ambrogia 15 on the Pacific coast and in Semolla La Jola, said:
“Our customers are looking for a place to buy our unique wines and the natural wines we use in restaurants,” said his Ambrogio15 customers.
“When you eat Ambrogio15, you will find the products we use in this new market and you can take it home,” Pizigoni said.
Renovations on the Ciao Ciao Piadina will begin in September, and Pizigoni said he hopes to open in November. In addition to the retail market, wine is served in glass or on the fly, offering small bites including meat, cheese and bread.
‘Lion King’ – Theme Events
The La Jolla Village Merchants Association announced various summer events related to the Broadway Sandio Disney concert, “The Lion King” from August 24 to September 11 at the San Diego Civic Theater.

Bird Rock Traders app
The Bird Rock Community Council merchant discount app is now live and offers special offers to community councilors for local businesses. Membership is $ 50 per year.

According to BRCC member Ron Finman, an app holder can get various offers on participating businesses. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, for example, offers a 15 percent discount on all coffee orders. The Bird Rock Surf store has a 10 percent discount on all clothing. Others offer one-time promotions and app-like specials, such as Dollar Mimosas.
Services range from children’s music lessons to plumbing, he said.
“Our goal is to get more people to sign up for this,” Fineman said. “We want to get more traders. One of the big things we admire is when people buy locally and make money in the local economy. Many of these are services you don’t want to buy from a large chain.”
Finman added: “We were all upset at the front of the store in La Jolla. But this is an opportunity to help those who are here and to attract more traders to the community.

Belmont Village
