The past 9 months have been stacked with the most travel I’ve ever had. Since the end of April, I’ve been going somewhere almost every two weeks, either for a press trip, visiting family or going to a wedding. Is this a constant state of travel? It’s a bit of a rage… and I’ve become a professional packer as a result. I swear by packing cubes and bags-within-a-bags to keep my belongings organized, easy to find, and organized.
Earlier this summer, I decided that my makeup haul needed an upgrade. Random makeup bags and clashing prints were starting to hurt my mind and eyes and I wanted the look of my travel accessories to be a little more stylish. So where do I turn but Kuyana? The durable essentials brand carries some of my favorite totes around, so why not spring for a cute travel case for their leather travel case?
Of course, I also know that the Duchess of Sussex has been a fan of the brand for many years – and I especially admire her taste for understated accessories. And to be honest, a beautiful leather cosmetic bag (or two in this case) just screams sophistication. The choice was a no brainer.
But beauty of my Kuyana travel issues aside, this duo has helped me keep my self-care in order. First, the zippers on both the large and small case are not only horizontal to the top, they wrap from the base to the base, so you get the maximum space efficiency. And while the larger bag can hold both travel-sized skincare and makeup brushes when I’m on a long-haul trip, I like to keep different parts of my makeup (base, lashes, eye, etc.) in them. There’s less pandemonium when I unzip the bag, so your own compost bags. This is especially helpful for keeping track of lipsticks I use for a formal event or wedding, or more elegant pieces. Then, I put my brushes, face cup kit, and favorite makeup tool into the little case, and my glam is ready to go.
But, when I’m home, these beautiful super cases (mine are navy) also get good use. I wouldn’t give up my single bag neurosis for a bigger bag, but I would do my everyday makeup in that case. Then everything I need for touch-ups, plus a lipstick or two, goes into the little bag, which I transition from purse to tote depending on the day. The rush of satisfaction I get from this company is hard to beat. Perhaps the only thing a little more satisfying? Every time I take it out to review my look or take out a few extra swipes of lipstick, I feel like I’m the most put-together person on the planet. I am completely changed. Get yourself some quality makeup bags, you deserve it.
