Software house Sequent has won the PwC 2022 NZ Hi-Tech Award at a ceremony in Wellington, New Zealand.
Our friends at Sequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, have been named PwC Hi-Tech Company of the Year at the 2022 NZ Hi-Tech Awards. The awards celebrate New Zealand’s most successful high-tech companies and high-achieving individuals.
CEO-elect Graham Grant said: “I am extremely proud of the dedicated team – both current and past – with incredible talent, focus and passion to join the global underground software success story.
“We first entered the NZ HiTech Awards ten years ago in the export category with a big vision. Focusing on innovation, growth and excellence – we’re delighted to be recognized as a NZ Hi-Tech Company of the Year, having previously been recognized as a finalist.
“Having been on a high-speed growth journey for a long time, carving out a name for New Zealand in the underground software sector – the past year has been transformative and will go down as a milestone year. We’ve achieved rapid global growth, acquired four successful businesses, grown our portfolio of innovative solutions and continued to expand our team. .
In 2021, we opened a new chapter in our growth story with the acquisition of Bentley Systems, a Nasdaq-listed infrastructure engineering software company. Together, we are helping to build a stronger future by connecting the built world with the hidden world above ground.
Additionally, Shawn Maloney, former CEO of Sequent, who is retiring in April 2021, was a finalist in the IBM Hi-Tech Inspiring Individual category.

Customers use Sequent software in more than 120 countries to make better decisions about earth, environment and energy challenges. A record number of new companies have entered the 2022 NZ Hi-Tech Awards from across the country and across the hi-tech sector.

The 2022 NZ Hi-Tech Awards were presented at a gala dinner in Wellington on Friday 5 August with a record attendance of around 1,100 including the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Wellington.
