Grand Rapids, Mich. – Michigan Tech dropped a 4-3 second-round matchup at the University of Davenport Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness Club on Friday. The Huskies (0-10, 0-2) continued their recent strong doubles streak to take a 1-0 lead, but suffered four singles losses to remain winless on the season.
Despite the team’s loss, Vitor Jordao went on to pick up his first win of the spring at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Subash Paramasivam. Ricardo Nunez also won the No. 6 singles for the first time, defeating Simon Paciola 6-2 6-4.
Nunez partnered with Ambarish Rao to win by count. Subash Paramasivam and Daniel Kitrow won 3 doubles 6-1.
“It was a hard fought game by both teams,” said head coach Christine D’Agostini-Yep. “It’s down to the end but we’ve come up short. We’re looking forward to trying to win tomorrow.”
The Huskies will play Purdue Northwest (5-4, 2-0) on Saturday at the Forest Park Tennis Club. Kuru has won three consecutive matches.
